South Palm Resort Maldives

The room was very cute! I chose the hotel because of the swings nearby :) The food and staff at the restaurant were great. SPA was not bad. I like different fish in the water! Diving and water sports are possible. I saw mantas and dolphins! =)

First of all, we were in July-August. 1. There were a lot of dead corrals on our side of the beach. A lot of stones, so there was only one side of the island where it was ok to swim without coral shoes. 2. Diving was extremely expensive! For a certified diver, one dive at the end was about 130$!!! For non-experienced divers, the first dive is about 200$. We could not dive with Tiger sharks because we needed a group of at least 3 people. =( 3. Sometimes the food was very spice, and no signs that it was spicy( 4. There is no breakwater around the island. Therefore, there is practically nothing to see during snorkeling( 5. There is also some work going on in the area. Water visibility could be better. 6. The most terrible thing was about our return transfer. We asked several days before leaving about the transfer time. Just in the evening before we knew that we needed to leave at 2 am at night! While the flight we had at 11:50. We were sure that the flight would be in the morning. I was asked what options we had, and the manager told us that if we do it in the morning, we would miss our International flight. I checked on the Maldivian website flights (maldivian.aero) and found out that there is a good flight for us in the morning. And I insisted they change our transfer to later, at 6:00 am. The manager wanted us to pay charges for changes to the flight, but I refused to do this because they didn't consult with us about the transfer timing. So, we signed the paper to take risks in case we were late for the International flight. But we even had time to buy souvenirs at the airport! 7. We saw palm rats under the sink and cockroaches near the toilet.

Loved the pool and overall ambience

the service is perfect! the beach villa is beautiful and comfortable.. the food is delicious and various you can always find something for you. The underwater is also nice.

sometimes the beach is too dirty:(( but when it’s sunny it looks perfect!

very good price-quality ratio, helpful staff, cleanliness, catering certainly corresponds to the price category, a very quiet resort, as it should be in the Maldives, despite all efforts, it is certainly not always possible to satisfy 100% of all guests, but we were completely satisfied, my hard earned dollars were very well invested :-)

The food need more to enhance many international kitchens can be added, Arab food and more better quality is the only missing in this resort

1.Takes 10mnts on a speed boat from GAN international airport. (If you are flying to MLE airport ,hotel will arrange the transfer) 2. Food was amazing. 3.Staff is so friendly and helpful. 4.Hotel has daily activities, DJ by the pool and bar,excursions etc.... 5.Hotel has Water Sport Centre where you can rent stuff for good price.(snorkeling kit , Fins, crystal kayak for single or double, Jet ski etc.....) 6.Best view from water villa. 7.Baby sharks near the coral reef.

1. Make sure you arrange the transfer prior to your arraival and DO NOT ask for flight changes for the domestic flight from the hotel reservation team. ( Because we wanted to change our international flight to evening flight cos the flight we had was in the morning 10AM in MLE airport and boat transfer they arranged around 2.30AM from the hotel to GAN airport. Hotel reception team informed us that domestic flight cannot be changed cos it's fully booked and we agreed. Then we checked out at 2.30AM and they dropped us in the GAN airport. When we reached the Maldivian airlines counter ,they said the flight has been CHANGED to evening flight as per hotel request. We couldn't do anything and hotel staff had already left. So we went to the Maldivian airlines reservation team and I cried cos we were helpless. Thanks to the ticketing staff there ,he called the hotel and hotel COULDN'T DO anything about it. but he helped to change the domeatic flight back to the original flight and we travelled safely to MLE airport. So DO NOT ASK FOR FLIGHT CHANGES if you wish to stay more days or more hours for your comfort. Better to take the international flight from MLE in the evening and you can check out after 1200 noon.) 2.Bed in the water villa was not comfortable and we could feel the spring on the mettress. 3.They need to add more sea food dishes for a la carte menu and for buffet.(They only have Tuna fish for buffet and no sea food meal for a la carte menu at all.) 4.buggy car doesn't come on time. (Make sure to call the reception prior 15-20mnts)

- The nature and the beach are very interesting, this is why the Maldives are worth visiting! Beautiful colourful sea and island. - Different swimming gear was available in "all inclusive", for example, snorkelling was very fun, we did it every day and often saw new fishes! - All inclusive package included one free snorkelling tour on a boat. - The villa is nice, it's very close to the sea. There is a nice swing and sunbeds at the rear end of the villa. - You have a reserved table for the whole stay and the waiter stays the same. - A variety of tours was available from the hotel. - The restaurant had a bunch of stations that cooked food in front of you at your request (for example, beef steaks) and you got that food hot. - My parents had a 30-th wedding anniversary and the resort decorated their room nicely and gave us a celebration cake. That was considerate! - Cleaning 2 times a day. - Transfer from Male is expensive, but well organised. "What didn't you like?" (continued) - As many people mentioned, the restaurant didn't have an aircon, meaning it was hot and humid, especially during lunch and it was uncomfortable being there. - Breakfast ends at 9:30, which is early. Lunch window (12:30-2) was short. - Bar -- All inclusive list of drinks is quite poor. -- The quality and proportions of the ingredients of the cocktails were inconsistent. The same cocktail might be made strong or not at all and it's unpredictable. Some ingredients might be left out or swapped without letting you know. -- I don't understand why there was an "included" cocktail that had Baileys, but Baileys separately is "not included".

- There were small ants on the walls of the villa and a couple of days I saw a cockroach in the shower area - Everything outside of all inclusive package is quite expensive. A Redbull can from minibar is $10 - We (3 of us, me and my parents) were considering a sunrise fishing tour. It was $150 per person or $500 for a family of 4 according to the price list. The employee at the water sports said that they will offer us a tour for $350 and we agreed. We discussed it a couple of times and confirmed again when signing up on the sheet. My father signed the bill before the tour at 5:30 a.m., it was dark. During checkout time we found out that that tour was priced as $450, not $350. It took quite a while to figure out why. They found the signed bill and it was very strange. It had $352 for the tour and some taxes, which together amounted to $449.99 (i.e. $150x3). Of course we could not argue further because the bill was signed, but we felt scammed. For every other charge in the resort the price included tax. We heard the price $350 from the employee several times, but they refused to confirm. Also, sunrise fishing tour is advertised as 2 people max tour and there was place only for 2 fishing rods on the boat. Charging $150 per person when there were 3 people and only 2 fishing rods seemed unfair. - The manager talking to me online on Booking.com was unaccommodating and not very responsive (sometimes I had to wait for more than a day for the reply while I was writing during working hours): -- We wanted to change our reservation shorter (not longer!) by 1 day and the hotel staff answered that the new price will be applied (making the whole thing ~$4k more expensive), which doesn't make sense. -- Booking.com didn't have an option for 1 person, so I reserved myself a villa for 2 (all inclusive). I asked whether I can get a discount, since the price includes not only accommodation, but food, drinks etc.

The location is amazing for those who love diving. The comfort of the resort is the perfect treat for the others who don't like diving but just snorkeling. The cleanliness is stunning.
